I frequently hear how people plan on "hunting" for their food in a crisis or they are stocking up on the fruits of their present hunting endeavors but seem to be finding it difficult to make creative dishes. So I thought I'd provide one of my go-to methods for cooking elk or venison. I  will also add that this recipe is surprisingly good over salmon cakes. (I know! Who knew that salmon and cranberries got along so well?!)  I adapted this recipe from one I found in an old cookbook of a famous...

Today I’m going to give you a gift.  I’ve been working very hard on my cookbook to get it ready for publishing and as such there have been several recipes that I’ve not shared because they were IN the cookbook. But, my computer and YouTube haven’t been getting along very well and as such, in spite of all of my best intentions, the YouTube videos that I’ve made to post for specific days in this 100 Days of Prepping haven’t made it up yet. It’s a nice twist on the same old boring side dishes and it’s got a little bit of a spicy, sassy kick to the flavor as well. The recipe is even better when I’m able to quickly make it from my freeze-dried produce. I also like how it uses herbs and spices that I can have on hand in my indoor herb garden or freeze-dried. This recipe does taste better with fresh ingredients, but I've used...

This is my variation on a rice dish--something to jazz things up a bit with a side dish. It was inspired by the food I ate out in New England. Moosewood Restaurant is in Ithaca, NY but the whole food feel in all of their dishes is what I truly crave. So give t his a try. It's GREAT to stuff vegetables with such as green peppers, artichokes, eggplant, squash, zuchinni, and even grape leaves if you want to keep it all Greek. Enjoy!   Greek Pilaf--inspired by Moosewood Restaurant 1 C. minced...
