Slow and steady wins the race! Photo c/o redbrownandblue.com Time’s a wastin’. Getting prepared takes a concerted effort on a regular basis. However, it doesn’t take require loads of money or fancy contraptions. It takes action. The good news is that even though I’m not surrounded with a particular need for preparedness right now, I’m still amply rewarded when I do a little something to improve my family’s state of readiness. I find that each activity I do and every effort I make in this...

Freeze Dried Blueberries. Photo c/o thereadystore.com While I am able to obtain produce periodically, I have to say the majority of the fruits and vegetables in my food storage are of the freeze-dried variety? Why? Cost and convenience. Consider this. I can purchase a flat of fresh blueberries for $30-$35 at a farmers market. Undoubtedly there will be some waste, bruising, and I may or may not be able to use them all before they spoil. I will also need to wash them and dry them off prior to...

I’ve only written a few articles for Preparedness Pro related to firearm self-defense but I often hear questions from folks asking how a city girl got “converted” to this form of self-defense. Self-defense is a necessary component of preparedness. The escalating crime and violence inflicted on our law abiding citizens is indicative of this. If this is what is happening when “times are good” imagine what will transpire when the slightest amount of chaos and discomfort occurs. I believe that a...

Popcorn photo c/o granitegrok.com/ Let me ask you a question. Would you cook up fresh popcorn only to stuff it in a garbage bag, store it on the floor of a closet overnight, and then serve it the next day as “fresh popcorn?” Would you even want to eat such a food item? If so, would you be willing to pay “theater prices” for such a treat? While working for a movie theater, if you saw a drink cup fall to the floor, what would you do with it? Throw it away, right? Ah…but that would be a problem...

Germ Warfare. Photo c/o positivepsychologynews.com Yes, you do have a right to be a fanatic. When it comes to war, any war, the winner is always the one who never assumes they are safe. These same tactics must be applied to germ warfare as well. There just had to be a Part II to my previous article on Germ Warfare. After writing the first article, I kept being mentally nagged by other danger zones I had left out. In some instances, I believe these germ danger zones may be more nefarious than...

It’s a critical consideration for any person who intends to be prepared for whatever comes their way and yet it seems too taboo to discuss. It will assuredly save your life or that of your family, and yet many shrug it off. In the name of goodness many folks ignore it. Yet true goodness is willing to battle evil. It’s the difference between being prepared and being able to access your preparedness supplies. So why is it dismissed and vilified? Self-Defense is the 3rd most critical component...

9/11 - Photo c/o freerepublic.com Lately my husband and I have been discussing what we think our known enemies intend to do next. Why do we presume that there's more? Well, if you've looked into the deep-seeded hatred and hollow shell of morality of those who orchestrated the original 9/11 attack, you know that their satisfaction is unresolved. Their appetite for destruction is insatiable. To put it simply, there wasn't  enough mayhem and destruction felt from the original attack. We...
