Defensive Preparedness©
- Do you know how to be prepared physically, mentally, morally, and legally during long-term crisis?
A scenario in which you will need to use all of your preparedness supplies will undoubtedly come with some additional challenges. When stress, desperation, and chaos erupt, the ugly side of humanity is always an unwelcome companion. Unfortunately, when we encounter such dangers they cannot be solved simply by sharing a meal or two. To put it bluntly, our food and water is not what’s at risk. Our virtue and heartbeats are.
Surviving an encounter with the dark side of society requires sound mental and physical self-defense strategies. The tools of self-defense are varied and are driven by very personal choices, but the mental preparedness skills are mandatory. Like it or not, a basic knowledge of home self-defense strategies is an important aspect to preparedness. It ensures that all of your efforts to save your family from the inside won’t be thwarted by desperate acts on the outside.
As a seasoned professional instructor of preparedness, the founder of Women of Caliber, the most extensively certified female NRA Instructor in the Western States, as well as a Utah Concealed Carry Permit Instructor, The Preparedness Pro is uniquely qualified to teach you and your family how to ensure your physical preparedness is sufficient in this sobering aspect. The Preparedness Pro has taught families of all ages, military, and law enforcement personnel from a wide variety of backgrounds. As an “under-tall, overweight, out of shape real person” The Preparedness Pro intimately understands the need for practical and real instruction necessary for home defense.
Without a doubt, this action-packed 90 minutes course will educate you on your physical, mental, moral, and legal options for keeping your family safe and secure during a long-term crisis.
Easy Artisan Bread©
These beautiful artisan loaves have been baked for centuries in Europe; but after attending our event they will be found in your home, too–and fresh from the oven! Artisan bread gives you amazing variety, such as olive, walnut or rosemary loaves. No longer do you have to suffer with flavorless, squishy white rectangles that come pre-sliced in a bag from the grocery store. After attending this event, you’ll wow your family, friends and neighbors with scrumptious, fresh from the oven bread such as Asigo Cheese, Ciabatta, Cranberry and roasted pecan sourdough, or onion sourdough. Come find out just how easy it can be! * Class time: 90 minutes depending on audience questions

Survival Sanitation©
Proper sanitation is literally a matter of life or death. For years third world countries have lost countless souls to the most simple sanitation problems. Will your community become a third world country after an earthquake, financial collapse, or other chaotic event?
The number one issue that folks loathe about camping is the sanitation facilities—and it’s unnecessary.
The number one issue that people take for granted is actually a flushing toilet–nope, not the microwave.
So what do you need to learn now in order to truly be prepared to take proper sanitation measures amidst all possible scenarios?
Whether you’re a seasoned pro around port-o-potties, illnesses, and infections, you won’t want to miss any of this training. And besides, if you’ve got to learn about this unpleasant side of survival, you might as well learn from The Preparedness Pro in this 90 minute event. We’re not quite sure how she’ll address this topic in an entertaining manner, but if anyone can, she can. *grin*
Solar Oven Success!©
Would you like to never burn or scorch a casserole dish, roast, or baked good again? How about cooking tender, moist dishes without paying a penny for fuel or electricity? Today’s commercial solar ovens are not only economical and environmentally sound, but they deliver a wonderfully distinct taste advantage to “idiot-proof cooking.” In this classic training class you’ll also discover many alternative uses for a solar oven and dispel the common myths.

The Ten Principles of Preparedness©
Are your preparedness strategies methodical and logical or sporadic and scattered? Do you feel like you’ll never “get there?” Did you know that nearly 100% of all persons attempting to be more self-reliant are too focused on less significant areas of preparedness to the detriment of more critical ones? Through the modern day commercialization of “survival” and emergency preparedness products, it’s easy to get knocked off course with your preparedness efforts. This class will bring you back into focus on your self-reliant efforts.
Discover what the most critical 10 Principles of Preparedness are, as well as their rightful points of prioritization. Through this proven system, you’re sure to learn how you can better tackle the state of self-reliance for you and your family.
For the experienced or the beginning participant, this education experience will prove to be enlightening and practical. You’ll appreciate preparedness as an organized, logical, and methodical task rather than an act of fearful futility.
Upon completion of this 90 minute training course you’ll feel like you’re on the right path to self-reliance with a clear vision of where you need to go, what you need to have, and what you can truly accomplish. In addition, The Preparedness Pro will be sure to provide you with some back-up wisdom in the form of an informational handout as well.*
The Wonderful World of Wheat©
If you think the Israelites of the Old Testament lived in appetite misery for 7 years as they gnawed on dusty wheat kernels, you’d be sorely mistaken. While visions of mounds of wheat tend to overwhelm most people, you’ll look at wheat as your own pile of scrumptious gold after this class!
Make vegetables from wheat?! Yup!
Wheat for gluten allergies? Yup!
DELICIOUS “BBQ ribs,” “corned beef,” and “chicken and dumplings” made from wheat? Oh yeah!
You mean whole wheat bread isn’t supposed to be heavy and dry? That’s right, and you can even completely make it in less than one hour without the use of a butler or a maid.
The Preparedness Pro will convert your time-consuming nemesis into your new best friend as she shares with you the many ways you can TRULY enjoy wheat! Considering that it stores so easily and is one of the most affordable supplies in your food storage, don’t you think it’s a good idea to learn what kind of a gold mine you actually have in that bucket of wheat?
This class takes on storage, bread making, sprouting, making wheat meat, and purchasing of wheat! So be sure you don’t miss a second of it! And don’t worry, our generous resource booklet will help you to remember what you learned as well.*
UNDERwhelmed in Food Storage©
If filling your pantry with food and water is so important, then why does it feel so overwhelming? Well, that’s easy to answer. It’s simply because you haven’t had the opportunity to attend this all-time favorite class offered by The Preparedness Pro.
Coq au Vin and Beef Stroganoff from food storage?
Is tuna even allowed to taste divine?
Spam? Isn’t that dog food?
Powdered milk stinks, doesn’t it?
Where are my comfort foods?!
Plain old blah and boring is converted to EASY, gourmet with this innovative class. Not a boring moment to be had. You’ve never experienced a “preparedness class” like this. Expertly addressing the CHEAP acquisition, storage, preparation and planning of your long-term pantry, The Preparedness Pro presents her most often requested education experience!
Complete with scrumptious recipes* and samples (when possible), this will be one of the tastiest 2 hour “food storage” classes you’ve ever attended!
Unlock the Mystery of Pressure Cooking©
If you’re not jumping up and giddy about what you can do in a pressure cooker, then you don’t know what a pressure cooker really is!
Did you know that you can cook a pot roast from zero to perfect in less than 45 minutes? Go from frozen chicken to tender Chicken Barbeque in only 15 minutes! (Try doing that in your microwave) Creamy 4-Cheese Italian Risotto is no longer a dish solely for the patient. With your pressure cooker you can have a scrumptious delight in only 7 minutes! How about a mouthwatering cheesecake in only 12 minutes?
Use less fuel, less time, less effort and impress more of the picky palates in your life with this amazing cooking method. In fact, you’ll also save money on your food budget—no, we don’t say that lightly.
This cooking method is nothing like your grandma’s pressure canner. You’ll undoubtedly discover how a pressure cooker makes an unfrazzled gourmet cook out of ALL of us!
This popular training course also comes with great original recipes and an information-packed, full-color booklet*. You are sure to enjoy this 90 minutes of practical and entertaining education. And yes, of course, The Preparedness Pro will dazzle you with scrumptious samples too! So come with an appetite!
Water Wisdom©
How long can I store water? What kinds of containers should I store it in? How much water do I need? Do I need to put anything else in my water storage containers? Are there ways to make my stored water stretch further? What are realistic scenarios in which I would NEED to use stored water?
If you feel like you’re drowning in more questions than you have answers, you won’t want to miss this education experience. Water is the most often overlooked and underestimated area of preparedness and yet those who ignore it do so at their own peril. The Preparedness Pro will dispel the water myths and make you soundly aware of what key strategies you need to know about water storage, conservation, and home treatment.
Rain coats, swim suits, and umbrellas are optional. All attendees can also look forward to a flood of information in our available handouts for this topic as well in this 90 minute presentation.*

Hi There;
We have a start on preparedness. Your website looks to be a valuable source of information for us. Please supply any good advice for using it to maximum benefit. Thanks (computer skills aren’t necessarily the best…)

when is your next Sanitation webinar?
BECAUSE THERE IS VERY LITTLE WATER TO BE HAD IN ETHIOPIA AS THE GOVERMENT TURNS OF THE WATER SO SANITATION IS A PROBLEM HOW AND WHERE WOULD I FIND THE BEST WAY OF CREATING WATER FROM MOISTURE COLLECTION PLEASE ADVISE WE NEED TO FIND WAYS OG GETTING SUPPLIES OF WATER FOR FARMING CROPS FEEDING LIVE STOCK FOR BREEDING TO HELP SMALL GROUPS
Do you have any streams, springs, or ability to dig wells? Any underground rivers you can access? There is information on the Internet on how you can drive pipe sections into the ground until you hit water, the Army survival way. You have to make a pointed, screened tip on the first piece of pipe. Also, you can take unsanitary water and filter it through gravel and sand. Make a concrete box, long and rectangular and layer it in clean washed gravel of different sizes. Also sand. Pour the water in from the top of the box and let it drip out the bottom, which is closed except for an opening for the water to come out. I saw these being made and used on the Internet by a Christian group who built them for people who were flooded (somewhere) and all their water was contaminated. It worked beautifully. Any way of collecting rain and filtering it? Dew?
OK I officially will not complain any more after reading this.
Hello –I found your Blog onYahoo. I must say, I’m impressed with your site. I had no trouble navigating through all the tabs and information was very easy to access.Pretty awesome.
I’ve shared your blog with our MI and national readers in our Poor Man Survival letter and site and will give your site a plug again, because…it’s excellent!
Thanks again, Bruce.
The wonderful world of wheat? Where do I get more information? We have a small food storage group that is starting to meet every month so we can start using our food storage. This month is wheat! I found your site by googling where would I get more information so I can teach more about wheat please? Thank you. Sincerely, Jody
Jody, all you need to do is highlight the Wonderful World of Wheat class above, click it, and it will take you to the ordering process. Enjoy!
On the episode you were on they made it seem like you were helping the community out by sharing your defense skills and food prepping experience, I’m saddened that this website is all about ordering videos for monetary gain.
For someone who’s worried about total economic collapse you sure are charging a lot of money for your how to video’s…just saying…..
@Luciesmom I don’t think you could have written anything more moronic than this. There are 3 years worth of hundreds of helpful articles that are FREE and I’ve traveled all over the U.S. teaching classes for FREE at my own expense. And oh, by the way, monetary gain is the only way that people have any jobs.
@Luciesmom…so all of Kellene’s years of trial and error (blood, sweat and tears) and you believe she owes it to you for free? Let me ask you a question using your philosophy: Why do you work for a living and expect to get paid for what you do? Don’t you owe it to the company to work for free?
Luciesmon: Shame! I can not believe you just wrote this, This site has plenty that is free. Your probably are going to be one of the ones that says, I’ll just come to your house. Sad!
I have a question I’m hoping you can help me answer. My husband and I are starting to prep, we are worried that maybe signing up for Co-ops and preppers sites if this will put a target on our back, so to speak. That maybe, when and if , the government does start coming around and rounding up people if they will be looking for preppers and people who don’t totally rely on them. This would be in a case of martial law enforcement. We live in a Very small town in Nebraska and unfortunately there are no preppers around us and very few throughout the state. I guess my question is how safe is it to sign up for co-ops and preppers sites? Does it put your name on a list, so to speak? Or make us a target?
If you will look at the article I recently wrote called “Do Preppers Belong on TV” I think you will find the answer to that question. I don’t believe in not doing what’s in my own best interest and that of my family just because something “might” happen. That’s a rough way to live.
Glad you found us! Take care.
Hard to believe there are no preppers in a small town in Nebraska, or Nebraska in general….maybe they are just being discrete ?
Admiring the hard work you put into your blog and very informative information you present here. It’s nice to discover a blog in a rare occasion that is not all the same out of date rehashed material. Fantastic job! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feed to my Bookmarks today. In fact, I like your blog so much that I want to advertise my own site http://www.emt.co.il on it. I will be glad if you write me at: everythingrainbowhk (AT) gmail.com specifying your quarterly banner rates. Looking forward to your email!
Is there a charge for the classes, ie freeze dried, food pantry makeover, solar oven, & water wisdom, that’s listed in your library of educational events. How do I access this info? Many thanks!
I grew up in the bush of Alaska, where we purchased groceries once in the spring and once in the fall, so I have always been one to keep at least a 60 day supply of food on hand. However, I definitely take sanitation in my new urban lifestyle for granted – I can’t just go dig an outhouse here! And water isn’t running off of a glacier into a stream by my house anymore. I’m looking forward to learning more information from you, thanks for making your knowledge and experience available to all of us. I wish I had known about mineral oil on eggs back then!
i like your website but i hate that you are charging for your knowledge. how wonderful to know how to do all these things but to learn to save money i have to spend it? so here again only the rich will survive. this is really frustrating.
So which of the 500+ articles that are published on this website were you under the impression you need to pay for? The search bar is your friend if you’ll take the initiative and use it to your benefit to find topics which are of interest to you.
As for the additional, more extensive tutorials which I offer accompanied by DVDs and resource guides, is it your belief that I should actually pay out of my own pocket to provide these? If such is the case, then a site which focuses on the virtue of self-reliance, freedom, and independence is likely not a good match for your tastes.
You have an awesome site! So easy to navigate. My husband and I are in the beginning stages of prepping and I would like some advice. I don’t know where to begin in the kitchen/food storage area. I’m not very inventive in the kitchen and i have no idea where to start to make foods shelf stable. I would like to order all of your videos but we are also on a very tight budget now that I no longer work. We also have very limited space and weight restictions when we move. My husband is enlisted military. For a beginner, what would be the top three videos you would recommend I get to start out my food prep? Also what/where do you recommend buying the items to store this in? I’ve scoured several websites and am so overwhelmed right now. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you for all that you do!!!
Amber, there is an article called “Prepping for Beginners” on here. Put that in the search bar WITH the quotation marks and you’ll find that article which will give you your beginning homework assignment. *grin* Let’s get you out of the overwhelmed feeling and get you in the “I’m in control, now” feeling to start with. OK?
I will do that! Thank you
If I bought a #10 can[6.39lbs] of wheat, how much flour do you think I would have after ground? Which winter wheat is best, white or red? I have never worked with wheat except boiling it and then using it and kids did not like.
unfortunately, all #10 cans are filled the same way. What I can say is that 1 pound of wheat berries will give you about 4 1/2 pounds of flour.
Kellene, I loved you on preppers and I just found your website which looks exceptional. This must take a lot of your time so thanks a bunch. I have 2 thoughts on prepping: 1) toilet paper takes up a lot of storage space and I won’t do without it! Storing baby wipes though is a lot easier and does the same as the paper. 2) Clothes, I have clothes that are decades old but my grandchildren would need shoes, coats, jeans, etc. etc. Just thought I would share. Keep up the goof work and God bless you and your husband for sharing!
I will always be able to make room for TP the same way I can always make room for ice cream for dessert.
Baby wipes are beneficial, though significantly more expensive, however, you can make your own baby wipes. (just do a little internet search). One thing though is that TP breaks down better than the baby wipes do. Perhaps if you make your own you can overcome that little snafu.
I encourage folks to make use of thrift stores for their clothing needs that they may anticipate in the future–that way it’s not something that they HAVE to have as a part of their wardrobe right now, most likely, and it’s not a huge investment in something that is just going to collect dust for who knows how long.
Thanks I’ll look that up.
Could you please change pallet to palate? (sorry couldn’t help myself) I’d love to get your cheese report, but its pretty pricey, and I don’t do google checkout. Any chance we could make an arrangement? Also, I have a useful cheese tidbit for you.
Unfortunately, spell check doesn’t correct properly spelled words being used incorrectly.
You can simply send a check or money order if you’d like.
m fairly new to the preppers mindset and I am wondering if your dvd’s are closed captioned? I am hearing impaired and require cc. If not, are there any book that you recommend for reading? Needless to say, it is a little overwhelming especially when your family thinks that you are paranoid and there is no support whatsoever and you are thinking of how you are going to protect and feed them and meet their medical needs. Thank you so much for all of your hard and in advance for your help. Thank you.
Melisa
ooops meant to say for your hard work.
No, they aren’t but you make a VERY good point. I need to get on that. Thanks for the insight! And best of luck to you in your efforts in the meantime!
Thank you! Have you written any books that I could purchase to read or have any recommendations? Thank you again so much!
Some of the courses above don’t have prices, or buy now links. Am I missing something?
There are presently only 3 of these classes pre-recorded with a DVD and a Resource Guide. The rest of them we’re able to offer live for community groups throughout the nation.
I watched you on Doomsday Preppers and you just amazed me. Do you tell how to can chicken in the ‘food pantry makeover’ video? I am a complete dummy when it comes to canning & storing but I’d love to learn. Let me know when that video is available. Take care & God bless!
You don’t have to pay for that, Hon. Just put in “canning meat” in the search bar and you’ll find two articles in which I show you step by step with pictures of how to can meat. Have fun with that search bar and be sure to check out our Ten Principles of Preparedness. It makes prepping more practical and prioritized.
Kellene I always find something interesting on your site. I’m an avid baker so milling wheat berries for flour sounds like a terrific way to retain nutrients for baked goods. I love wheat berry sprouts too. Thanks for all the info available on your site…looking forward to 100 days of prepping.
have you considered renting your instuction videos via e-mail or usps?
i have appreciated the you-tube posts and look forward to your website posts regularly.
keep up the great work!
I can honestly say that I’ve never heard that question before. But I am comfortable in saying that we’ll never offer anything like that. There are very generous amounts of quality information available free on this site already (more than 700 articles and a couple dozen videos) and yet the server, web master, etc. all have to be paid regardless of whether or not we have any purchases. Sometimes I wonder if I’m in the right “business” because it seems that the more I do for people the more they expect me to do without any value for the effort it takes me to do it and even more worrisome is that some individuals become less self-reliant in the process.
Kellene,
I think you are doing a wonderful and valuable job. Please keep it up. I did also want to say that if you offer free vanilla ice cream to the people, someone will invariably ask for chocolate. Then someone else will want chocolate syrup, sprinkles and nuts. Then someone else wants whipped cream, and bananas. Let’s not forget the bananas. LOL The end result is that you can not please all the people all the time. Keep on keeping on!
Thanks for the reminder, Bob. And you are SOOO right. *sigh*
