Ravensara Essential Oil--One of My Favorites!

While there are all kinds of interesting things that people presume to know about me, there is one thing that many of you may be surprised to know.  For two years I did nearly all of my work, writing, recordings, interviews, and even radio show broadcasts from the comfort of my bedroom. Hooked up to a heating pad, usually a couple doses of pain medication, my laptop and cell phone.  I was exiled to my bed for nearly 3 weeks of every month. Why? Well, I’ll tell you. But don’t worry. This story has a very good ending.

I suffer from endometriosis—Stage 4.  Endometriosis, for those of you who don’t know, is essentially decayed, bruised, and compromised cells which typically originate in the uterine wall. Unfortunately these cells think they own the place and start expanding outside the uterine wall, on the ovaries, strangling the bladder, or wherever the heck they feel like going.  In spite of having 4 various surgeries to handle this problem, and  a whole lot of prescription cocktails, I haven’t been able to kick it; and as time has gone on, it’s only gotten worse.  By all accounts (and urging and pleading from doctors, sisters, and friends) I should have had a hysterectomy at least 5 years ago, if not longer.  But I wasn’t comfortable with the side effects of a hysterectomy and frankly, the primary factor in avoiding it is because I’ve refused to give up on the whole having children thing.*  The pain is right at the center of my body. I don’t cough, sneeze, laugh, or move without feeling it.  As such, one isn’t exactly motivated to move (especially for exercise) when you’ve got pain.  As such, the weight just kept getting packed on. Of course the excess weight, stress that this was not the quality of life that I had envisioned for myself at this age, and the clinical and situational depression certainly didn’t help anything. So, I did what most other people do in such circumstances—I coped as best I could; which included taking pain medication whenever I did have to go to church or teach a class or do a fireside. While the pain medication could result in some more entertaining classes perhaps, I knew that every dose I took meant I was leaving behind another toxic chemical footprint in my brain, liver, and other vital organs. One day my husband and I had quite the row. As it turns out, my then hubby was seriously worried about me. He didn’t want to have to come home someday and find me in a coma, the midst of a heart attack, or worse.  While he didn’t say it, I think he was hoping that I would just have the hysterectomy and work on dealing with the consequences as best as we could from there.  But it really just felt wrong inside me—not to say that my “crap-ometer” worked the best under these circumstances.  So I did the only thing I could do. I prayed, and prayed and prayed--and then I researched.  I just wanted help to find something that I could turn to for help on this matter. The inactive lifestyle was only making me worse in so many other areas as well. As I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve been studying essential oils for over 10 years. I’ve bought them, used them, etc. But I have to say, I never experienced those amazing results that I read about—even though these were scientific studies that I was reading. So I just figured that I was the lone exception to that solution, just like I was to the FOUR surgeries I had to supposedly take care of the endometriosis, plus the litany of medical cocktails, shots, and other protocols I endured over the years for this issue. Nothing seemed to work on me. I felt like a freak of nature. But my prayers and research kept bringing me back to wanting to do more research on essential oils.  I won’t get into all of it, but suffice it to say I realized that it wasn’t that essential oils weren’t effective on people, it’s that the essential oils that are so abundant in the market today are so adulterated, diluted, and messed-around with that they are rendered not only ineffective, but in many cases are downright dangerous to a persons’ body.  However, through a series of coincidences I stumbled upon a premium quality source. And within that source I discovered an essential oil that I had never heard of, in spite of nearly a decade of passionate study.  Ravensara essential oil. Well of course I’m going to share with you that Ravensara Essential Oil was a partial answer to my prayers.  Now I usually only have a handful of rough—relegated to the bedroom days—instead of weeks every month. The pain is still there, but it’s no longer the star of my show.  Ravensara essential oil, among many other things, is amazingly effective in easing muscle strains as well as arthritis pain.  But guess what? Like any quality essential oil that hasn’t been messed around with, it actually made a huge impact on several other health issues that I had just owned over the years as being a part of my life. You see, Ravensara essential oil is to Madagascar what tea tree oil is to Australia. In fact, it’s STILL used in the traditional medical system in Madagascar, and once you delve into all that this oil can impact in a person’s life, you’ll understand why. One of the most important things I should share with you about this particular essential oil is that for starters I’m a bit suspicious of any Ravensara essential oil that doesn’t at least originate in Madagascar. The reason being is for years (even still today) Ravensara essential oil is deceptively labeled on many essential oil bottles. Unfortunately, there are still a whole lot of companies that are selling Cinnamonomum camphora ct. 1.8-ceneole as Ravensara essential oil.  NO BUENO!.  In fact, I was recently on a really good website, that clearly wanted to help their customers, but were unwittingly offering them this incompetent substitute as Ravensara essential oil. If properly labeled it would read Ravintsara, which can actually be toxic to sensitive or highly compromised auto-immune systems. The two oils are VERY different in constituent make-up. Thinking they are the same thing is thinking that gasoline and water are both drinkable.   So be sure that you check and double-check that you’re getting the real stuff.

Ravensara essential oil is most widely known in the medical studies as being an anti-viral (Just look up Ravensar Anti-viral studies and you won't sleep for a week while you read them all!). Yup. There’s that word again. Anti-Viral. Have you ever gone to your doctor when you were sick with something and have him tell you that he can’t help you because it’s a virus. As you hopefully know, anti-biotics don’t work on viruses.  The mainstream medical system is quite helpless in battling viruses. So, whenever I’m up against that kind of problem, I always reach for an essential oil—the majority of which have anti-viral properties.  Ravensara essential oil is particularly effective in handling some of the more dangerous, respiratory viruses. In fact, it’s the go-to solution for whooping cough in many areas of the globe. Did you know that in Spain, if you go to a doctors office for a viral infection they will actually OFFER you Ravensara essential oil? (The cameraman from a show in France was telling me all about while we were filiming for a show they were doing. Fascinating!)  A flu or any respiratory complication will be well served by Ravensara essential oil—especially when it’s teamed with Eucalyptus (Radiata). When battling sinus infections, allergies, and even the common cold, Ravensara will make an undeniable impact. I’ve never had a client NOT notice a big difference when needing to clear sinuses or breathing passages. One of the bath salts I frequently suggest has both Ravensara essential oil and Eucalyptus (Radiata) in it, and I have had a lot of calls from moms who newly discover such an option reporting that their kids are suddenly ready to go back to school after a 20 minute soak in a hot bath with these oils and dendrite salt. Now, about some of its other merits.  Tight muscles, menstrual discomfort, muscle aches—especially those caused by emotional stress—benefit from the application of Ravensara. It’s frequently used effectively as a muscle relaxant and an analgesic. One time I had an unexplainable sharp pain in my calf for two days and finally I soaked in the bath salt combination and the pain completely went away in a matter of minutes. But the reason why I say “especially the muscle aches caused by emotional stress is because one of the other common uses for Ravensara is in subduing depression and anxiety (probably one of the reasons why it helped me so much at that particular time). It’s also highly effective in addressing shingles (which are very painful in an adult AND are viral), cold sores (also usually caused by emotional stress and are viral) as well as genital herpes. When I think of Ravensara I think of muscles, emotional compromise, and respiratory matters. (I realize that there are a lot of essential oils that do so many things, so I always try to compartmentalize them like this to keep them all straight.) While a good Ravensara will be one of your more expensive essential oils (in the similar cost league as Frankincense, Myrrh, Helichrysum, and Copiaba) one drop does a whole lot and thus makes it’s investment well worth it to me! While Tea Tree essential oil is highly regarded as a great immune system fighter, Rosemary and Lavender are 10 times more effective in that regard. Ravensara though, is TEN TIMES more effective than either Rosemary or Lavender though. So it’s clearly one to have.  It has a 9,829 ORAC value on the anti-oxidant scale. So it’s great for everyday use.  It’s also been proven to combat the Staphylococcus Aureus (staph infection) as it’s a powerful anti-bacterial agent as well. Being septic has become an increasing danger amongst newborns in our nation over the last 5 years. Also, men have started bringing it home from the work place more often (still undetermined as to why, though)  Since being septic is a life or death scenario, to me it’s important to use something that will literally KILL the bacteria, not just put it to sleep. The nice thing I love about oils in general is that you don’t need to use them “just in case” a compromised health issue arises. If used consistently, they will actually help to nourish the cells for that particular area of our body and eventually eliminate the issue altogether. You can completely eliminate allergies and “seasonal sinus infections by building up your respiratory and immune system with this friend.  I started applying a drop of Ravensara every night on my sternum after battling allergies in the dry Utah air for over a decade. After three days of this minor addition to my nightly routine, I found myself working through the day without needing an allergy pill. And I don’t have to do the hacking in the mornings like I used to. Yippee! One more prescription I don’t have to get filled! This is a big deal to me since my allergies would ALWAYS turn into an all-out cold almost every single month when my menses cycle would drain my immune system—making me that much more of a bear to be around. To summarize the aspects to this wonder oil, it’s anti-microbial, anti-allergenic, anti-depressant, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-spasmodic, aphrodisiac, diuretic, expectorant, relaxant, and of course, anti-fungal. As such, it’s a great immune builder.  It’s also a very effective companion oil for rheumatoid arthritis!   If you combine it with a rosewood or tangerine essential oil (my personal favorite citrus oil), it’s a great pick me up, even effective in overcoming apathy. You can also use it effectively with Frankincense, ginger, or grapefruit to help your mood. So kick the tires on this helpful essential oil and you’re sure to find some positive effects in your world. *Please refrain from making your kind suggestions as to how I can rectify this matter, Friends. It really is a very personal decision for every woman and though you mean well, it may not be as well received as you would have liked it to be. I assure you that I’m in good hands—His—on this matter. But I will still say THANK YOU for your kind concern.

great info! so happy to know I have something to combat my own allergies! Maybe if I start now I won't have the problems I normally do through the next seasons. THANKS

I am a complete novice when it comes to essential oils. Is there any book you could recommend?

Kimberly, the problem is that there hasn't ever been "A" book that I have found out in the public that didn't contain errors. I've had to go directly to companies who did the research to get info. For example, there's a big honkin' book out there by Gary Young that costs a pretty penny. I bought it and within in first chapter there were literally hundreds of errors--not just factual, but publishing errors as well. (they are published out of China...) I'd recommend at least getting some basic info with any of the smaller books that come up on Amazon. But don't invest into a heavy duty one until you know 100% that you can trust the author and the publisher.

I didn't invest in Gary Young's book, but I was glad to have saved myself the expense. After doing my due diligence on his company, I was so disappointed and I don't know who or what company to trust. I was so interested in studying aromatherapy for myself, family, and friends. My friend has fibro, two herniated disks in his lumbar region, bulging disks in his neck, scoliosis, occasional vertigo, tinnitus, high blood pressure, and IBS. I believe he has undetected thyroid issues. Chiropractors and doctors have provided no lasting help to him thus far. Essential oils seemed like a good place to start. He's a shadow of his former self at 48 and I'm very concerned about him. Doctors just want to throw pain meds at him as his health degenerates. Off to physical therapy and perhaps accupuncture this week. Any information that you could email me would be greatly appreciated! I just stumbled onto your site tonight and I don't believe in coincidences. I originally thought I'd send this article to his daughter who's been diagnosed with endometriosis. :-) Thank you!

I love essential oils more than any other alternative medical product.
My DIL and son tried for a baby for years, but due to endometriosis were unable to conceive plus she had great pain. She started using (a product) on her carotid arteries on the advice of our naturopath along with clove oil (highest orac valuce) on her feet and ravensara (for pain due to the higher frequency and high orac scale) in a diffuser. It took six weeks for the positive pregnancy test. SIX WEEKS! She can feel movement now and is due in early August. It actually probably took less time for her to conceive, but the pregnancy test was about 6wks after she started using the oils.
Apparently the high estrogen levels that cause endometriosis will also defer pregnancy and can be so easily treated for both pain and fertility with oils. I didn't know about it, but I'm glad Dr. K gave her the suggestions.
Our youngest DIL is also having problems conceiving due to ovarian disease. She has had multiple surgeries. I pray she would be more open to alternative treatments, but she's not ready to receive them yet. Sad.
I'm glad you found pain relief with the oils. If you can ever get a raindrop massage with your high quality oils, you would love it. You might even cut that few days of discomfort down to a few hours or less. Oils are wonderful things provided by God that help people.

Glad to hear the good news, Teri!
Just so you know, it seems you're a tad bit misinformed. Clove oil does not have the highest orac value of the essential oils. Know that there are actually 3 different scales for orac value. So sometimes it's hard to decipher which is which.

Teri, I sent you an e-mail...

Where does one purchase the real ravensara?

Jane, I sent you an e-mail.

Again, thank you so much for you and all that you do for all of us. Would you share your source with me as well?

Ditto, Kellene, where do I get it?

Thanks for a new oil idea! People used to tell me my vomit-inducing menstrual cramps would ease after I had kids ... but they were wrong, as my bottles of ibuprofen can attest. Did you get yours from (your usual company) as well? (sorry, maybe you're trying not to name-drop, but with all the info out there it's nice to get a helping hand in your research! :)) I also like your kind but to-the-point star note; I love people who will give it to you straight!

I'm learning so much thanks to you! Still waiting for my first order of oils to arrive! Very excited to get started with them! Thanks again!

Thanks so much for all the great info. Can you recommend essential oils for candida overgrowth? I'm struggling to find the right answers. Also, I know you mentioned the oils company you recommend, but can't remember the name. God bless you for all you do.

Sherry, sent ya an e-mail...

Wow! Can you make a recommendation of a good book to start learning about essential oils in terms of preparedness? Thanks! (PS. I know you are in good hands with Him. :))

Caryn...and all folks who ask a question as to a specific company referral...I've sent personal e-mails. That's typically the only way I share such information is when I'm asked directly. :-)

Great topic!

When you do a bath how many drop should you use for full benefit? What in the world is dendrite salt?

I love it when you discuss essential oils and their uses.

Melissa,
I just purchase the bath salt with the oils/salt already in it. It's perfect for me that way and more affordable than if I had to buy the items separately.

Great article (as usual).
Will you please say again where you get your oils. I've been through dozens of your previous posts but could not find any info.
I live in Oklahoma so, of course, I have allergies. This year they have become almost debilitating causing fevers, headaches, etc. Have had some relief with Oil of Oregano purchased at local health food store but now would like to try Ravensara and several others mentioned in your previous posts.
Thank you for all that you do.

Would appreciate your source Kellene. This may just be what I am searching for!

I hear you on the choice being deeply personal. Why is it that everyone else thinks they know what is best for you? I found out that I was pregnant a couple of months ago. At nine weeks, I was told the baby had died. I did not and do not want a D&C, but several people recommended it to be my first choice. I am not a fan of doctors, pharmaceutical medicines and quick reliance on surgery of any kind. Therefore, I wanted to wait it out for a natural miscarriage, or try an herbal remedy for bringing on menstruation. A few of those who were quick to suggest the D&C were appalled. There are so many things that could go wrong with that, though. And I, too, do not want to risk not being able to have kids someday, and I know that the D&C has a risk of becoming unable to carry children. It may not be in the plans for me, but it is for God to decide that, not a botched surgery.
Those folks, they rely on whatever their doctors tell them, and don't understand that there are natural remedies out there that will do the same things, without the terrible side effects.

I would also like a reminder of where you purchase your essential oils, as I am interested in purchasing some that will be useful for my family.

I am genuinely sorry to hear of the emotional and physical struggle you're enduring right now.

GREAT info! I've got so much to learn! *sigh*

God bless you, Kellene...and thanks for the great post..I'm learning so much about everything...sometimes I think Ive been livin' under a rock...lol

I think the company was (redacted). I can try posting the link but my posts always get flagged when I do. Check Kellene's earlier blogs over the past year on essential oils. Lots of great info and links in them.
Kim :)

Kim, thanks for helping folks out. I have decided to only share personal referrals when I'm asked directly. When someone does inquire, I go ahead and e-mail them. That way no one can be snarky with me--at least not with any just cause. :-)

Sorry to hear people are being snarky with you! Everything I've read has been great! I'm pinching my pennies and couponing my rear end off so I can free up some $$$ for those oils!
Kim :)

Does (your usual company) have ravensara and those bath salts? I am so glad we can be blessed to learn from your experience!

Yes, they do. Just e-mail me.

Great info , thanks so much

I am also unfamiliar with essential oils but the benefits seem obvious to me and I would love to learn more. I really enjoyed your piece on essential oils and it really opened my eyes to alternative ways to take care of my health where I am actually an active participant. I know from your post there is not one single book with all the answers, but if there are perhaps smaller books, safe sites or recommended authors you trust I would love to know about it. Thank you so much for all you do.

Excellent article. When using this for stap would you just use one drop, and would you put it on your foot or the effected area?

I would use just one drop, every couple of hours, actually. I would apply it directly to the infected area. It's perfectly safe to do so. If you aren't able to tolerate that for whatever reason, then yes, I'd put the drop of the bottom of each big toe.

I'd also like to know of your source. I've used essential oils for years and would love to find a great brand of Ravensara.

Do you have any information on which oils might help with Candida overgrowth and how to use them?
Thank you. Your information is so helpful.

Hi Kellene,

Would you please email me with your source on the ravensara oil.
I have terrible stiffness and fibro.
Thank you

Thanks so very much for yet another valuable article. I'm learning tons. Its time for me to look into alternative ways to deal with Fibromyalgia pain. Essential oils might just be the answer. As Caryn mentioned, I'd appreciate a book recommendation on essential oils especially in terms of preparedness. Thanks again for all your time and for sharing such important information.

Really enjoyed the article, and since I have to endure a few of the ailments and challenges you identified, especially the allergies, I am looking forward to trying out a non-drug alternative. Please advise the best source for the essential oils you recommend, especially Ravensara.

I really know just about nothing when it comes to Essential Oils, but can you tell me if Essential Oils have a shelf life? These are the types of products I would like to have on my shelf even if I don't know how to use them yet. And Kellene, could you email me your recommend source for oils, and if you know if they can be sent oversees, Australia to be exact. Thanks for all your hard work, truly is appreciated :)

After years of the horrible pain of endometriosis and the most horrific cycles you could imagine I was prayed over at a Sunday evening church service in 1997. The endometriosis pain was gone by my next cycle...and natural progesterone cream finished up all my other problems...like you I was told countless times to have a hysterectomy and like you I had the dream of having a baby....the Lord blessed us after 25 years with a precious baby boy through adoption but still I dream to have my own. I would also be happy if you could e-mail me info on your essential oils. I am very much into alternatives...and would love to know if there is an oil for uterine fibroids.

Thank you for ALL your posts on Essential Oils. Could you please tell me where I might be able to order them from? Which ones do you use mostly? I just HAVE to get some Ravensara.... Thank you again.

I'm also new to learning about essential oils and would appreciate information on where to purchase as well as any suggestions on a getting started book(s).

Thanks for all the great information you provide here.

I am yet again amazed by your knowledge and help to all of us. The Lord will bless you for all your doing for us :)

Can you email me with your sourse for Essential Oils and the company for the bath salts? Kellene, I just want to thank you so much for your advice all the time, it brings a peace to me to know I can do so many things to protect and help my family in these very difficult times and those to come. Your my go to source for everything anymore. If I need to know something I tell my husband, hang I have to see what Kellen has on that.....lol. Thanks again!

Like you after researching essential oils for a few years I can not find one totally accurate "book" and I am always hesitant about ordering my oils. Could you please let me know what company/authors you have found to be reliable. God Bless

Thanks Kellene for all you do. This is the first time I've commented...am itching to know about a good source for essential oils if you can email me directly. I thank the Lord for your research time and all the time you spend to pass it on to others!

Kellene,

My wife and I would also appreciate an email regarding your source for all things "essential". Thank you for everything you do to share your knowledge of all things related to preparedness.

Can you point me in the right direction for this oil?

I would like to know where to buy the Essential Oils and the company for the bath salts also.

I just recently found your website and I am reading and copying all the information so in case of electrical failure I have a hard copy to refer back to.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. You are helping so many of us and we will be prepared thanks to you.

Would you happen to have a cheat sheet for essential oil, telling us which ones to use for different ailments? I would love to have a cheat sheet.

Thanks again!!

I'd like the info of where to get it as well. Thanks!

Could you share a good source for the Ravens oil, and for essentials in general? Thank you for the info.

Kellene,

Thank you for your article....Can you tell me where to get this oil?

Thanks,

Ian

Where can my wife and I buy the Ravensara oil. We are strictly beginners on the issue of essential oils. Would appreciate hearing from you.

PS. Glad your feeling better.

I love essential oils too. Where can I find the best ones? Thanks!!

Can you recommend good sources of information about essential oils and where to purchase them? I am a novice and have very little knowledge in this area.
Thanks!

Kellene, I would like to know where to purchase Ravensara.

Essential Oils sound like the 'pharmaceuticals of the early ages'
How difficult would it be, say to grow you own plants, dry them or prepare them to extract the essentials from them--or how have other cultures extracted them for many years without modern technology?

I'm in need of reading 'The Idiot's Guide to Essential Oils' here.

Suzanne,
Personally I dont' think it is simple at all. The purity and effectiveness of an oil has SO many factors to it...altitude, environment, distillation process, harvesting process etc. For example, there's one oil I've been researching that requires that the petals of the plant are harvested at 4:00 a.m. due to dew moisture at that time. I mean really, it's SUCH an art! So is it possible? Yes. Would I want to do it? Nope. I do grow some of the more common herbs to use for teas and such. but it takes 2 pounds of dried herbs to give the same therapeutic benefit as it does one drop of pure/premium/potent essential oil.

Any company that manufactures these will tell you how complex it was. And I don't think that's just an attempt at exclusivity.
Here is a brief description of how they are made by another local company (The company Kellene recommends is definitely the best, this is just the only place I could find a good description of the complexity of the process).

"The key to producing a quality essential oil is to preserve the delicate compounds of the aromatic plant through expert distillation. The proper process of steam distillation—passing steam through the plant material and condensing the steam to separate the oil from the plant—is strictly adhered to with all (company name) essential oils. Proper temperature must be maintained throughout the distillation process, and pressure, length of time, equipment, and batch size are strictly monitored. This ensures that the naturally-occurring compounds contained in each essential oil product are of the highest and most consistent bioactive levels."

By the way, looking it up on wikipedia is not helpful. Apparently their contributors are medical hacks and haters.

Wikipedia contributors are just lay people. Anyone can post anything they want on Wikipedia and it stands until it is refuted with conflicting "evidence."

I would like to get info for purchasing the Ravensara and other high quality oils too, please. Also, what book, source do you find to be the most correct and informative? I have delved into essential oils, but reading your blogs, I see that I'm a virtual novice in this area. Any help would be appreciated.

Having several health issues during the past year, I would be interested in trying the Ravensara as well. Could you send me the information on where to purchase? Your blog is very interesting and is the only one I subscribe to. Thanks for your help.

Please email the name of the company you use for essential oils.
Thank you very much.

Kellene,Thanks for getting back so soon. Guess what? The word got out because they are out of stock! Quite an endorsement dont you think? I will definitely check back again. Thanks again for all that you do.

Kellene, it sounds like Ravensara is just what I need. Where do you get yours? Thanks for all the great info.

Like many of your readers, I am just begin to learn of essential oils. Can you please direct me to where to begin.....there's an ocean of info out there and I don't know where to begin. Am particularly interesed in info on the oils for candida/yeast issues. thank you ~

Kellene:

This info. is great - I have struggled with allergies for years (over 20) plus all the other junk that comes with it. My mom just recently got shingles. Can you email be the source for getting a "real" Ravensara oil?
thanks!

Hi Kellene,

Like you said, the best lace to get the skinny on any product (in this case essential oils) is from the producer or manufacturer, for they have done the research on it as part of their marketing. Like many others here, I would like and hope you will email me their contact info. For over 6 years now, my wife and I (and a close friend scientist) have created an eye solution that is all natural (using essential oils, herbs, vegetables in a magnetized/energized form) For over 6 years we have handed it out free and during that time we have received nothing BUT incredible, desired results... of clear vision, improved vision, being able to read small print, no more floater's, improved night vision as well as a huge reduction of allergies. Our eye solution is on the verge of being manufactured by a huge manufacturer and available world wide.... I KNOW the value of essential oils and appreciate your story to that end. Bless you on your efforts of time and endeavors to educate and promote alternatives and preparedness. Looking forward to learning of your source for ravensara. thank you!

Kellene,
do you sell the essential oils or do you have a company that you recommend? I know nothing about them, but would like to. My husband suffers from osteo-arthritis and I have a son that suffers with migrains and we've found most medications don't help.
Leslihw

Lesli, migraines are most typically caused by too many toxins in the body for the liver to properly keep up with, thus I would definitely recommend you using a daily liver cleanse. I've sent you an e-mail with some suggestions.

Thank you for sharing so much valuable information with us. I have learned so much and am very interested in getting better educated about Essential Oils. I have a sever case of Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome. Are there Essential Oils that you are aware of that can help this problem? We too would love to have children and have not been able to do so.

Thanks,
Sharon

Sharon, PCOS has a great deal to do with being insulin resistant aka "Metabolic Syndrome". This means you need more than just oils. I"ll send you an e-mail on this matter.

Kellene,
Please email me with the info on where I can purchase this oil and bathsalts.
Thank you for all you do.
Kathleen

Just wondering about your source for Ravensara my sister has endometriosis, I have struggled with candida so I would love your thoughts on that, my kids have swollen tonsils from allergies I am assuming so I would love your thoughts on that. I have been struggling with rectocele, a fallen bowel problem so if you have any info on this that would be great. You have so much wisdom, it is great, thanks

Please forward your resource for oils...Thank you!

Kellene,

Please email me the info about the oils.

Thanks,

Shauna

Thanks so much for the information. Would you also send me the name of the company where you get your essential oils? Thanks.

I would also like to know the source for your oils. I am just beginning to learn about the great uses for them. Thanks for all the great information you provide. I really appreciate it!

Help! Is there an "Essential Oils for Dummies" book out there?
I'm looking for accurate info, am a beginner, and really don't know where to begin. Thanks Kellene for every topic you present. I look forward to your articles every week and appreciate the fact that you openly share so much of your faith. Stay well.

kellene:

my son (24 years) has 2 herniated discs which cause him pain from time to time. He just had some shots done and I am trying to think of more natural ways to help him. where do I get the ravensara? about how much should i expect to spend?

Patty, the Ravensara may not be sufficient. I would definitely add some birch (I wrote an article on this one too) and helichrysum to the mix. You can get those two independently, or you can get them in a blend--usually a better option for effectiveness and price. I'll send you an e-mail directly.

What is your source for this product?

Thank you so much for your advice. I am very interested in using oils but know nothing about them. Could you please advise me on where to get started learning about essensial oils and best places to purchase these oils. I don't want to spend money on books that are not helpful or needed for a novice.

Thanks, Thea

I would also appreciate knowing a reputable source for essential oils. Thanks!

Kellene,
I so enjoy your posts....there isn't one that I don't learn something from!
I am glad to hear that you are feeling better....what a relief! I would love to know where you get your Ravensara, the bath salts, any book you think is 'the best', and....hey, I want to know how I can get 'David''s eye solution. How I want my eyes to be better than they are! Thank you for all of your hard work and your dedication to helping others....
thanks,
judi

I would also appreciate knowing your source for essential oils.

could you send me the name as well. thanks

Please email me your source of Ravensara. Thank you! Will pray for you, Kellene, as God is still in the miracle business! What He did for me He can do for you, He is no respecter of persons. I now have two sons and was 40 when I gave birth to the last one. Two blessings after being told I would never carry to term, due to endometriosis and other problems.

What a strain to put on you now....I knew you had bouts of sickness....but never knew how bad.....I will pray for you....(we all should, you are our shining star) I would ask you to send me an email telling me where to buy Copiaba,Eucaliptus and Ravensara....plus any good anti viral oils....also any books that might help.....when I first looked at herbs......every book said something different.....so hard to know what to do......that is why you are a God send to us less knowledgable....we know we can depend on you for the right info....That put's a lot on your plate....I love reading your blogs, listening to radio show.......I know you are helping a whole bunch of people.....As for myself.....,I am not in "panic" mode....nore will I ever be....Thanks to you.....I have read, learned, listened, I will never be the person I was before I found your blog....Thank You for making me a much better safer person....PS For any of those naysayers, that I have seen you endure with grace ( most of the time) PUSH THE DELETE BUTTON!!!! and stop wasting our time with your petty BS!

Razr,
Thanks so much for such kind words. I certainly feel like we ALL could use more prayers in our life...pray to discern between what's real and truthful and what's not, prayer to help us quicken our pace and be ready, prayer for understanding and enlightenment so that we don't miss anything. etc. etc...

Yeah, and that one article will be the LAST I permit such shenanigans. It didn't educate or change them, and it certainly didn't help any of the rest of you to have to wade through it.

Please let me know where you get your essential oils and bath salts.

Thanks for all you do.

Hi, Kellene..

Please add my name to the long list of people who would like your source for ravensara.

thank you in advance..
Sande in SW Missouri

Kellene,
May you please email me as to where you would recommend me getting Ravensara from (we are in Australia, don't know if that makes it harder?). Just reading your blog and through all the other comments,(can't believe how many of us have similar conditions yet are told so many times to just 'treat' the condition and to just deal with the symptoms and not encouraged to more preventative care, I related to so many people and what they are suffering) I know that myself, two of my four beautiful daughters and my father (just to mention a few) would all benefit immensely from being more preventative in our health care...I am only a newbie to your site, but am so encouraged by what I've read so far...May you feel better every day and thankyou for being honest and helping us with real issues...

Thank you Kellene for this excellent article. I too have a great fondness for essential oils. My favorite for the last couple of years has been Manuka essential oil. It is another very powerful anti microbial essential oil and is one of the few substances I know of that kills MRSA. We have used it successfully 3 times in my family on MRSA boils. It is also wonderful for eczema, acne, and cold sore. Unlike the essential oil from its cousin the Tea Tree, Manuka essential oil doesn't irritate the skin. It comes from New Zealand. You can find a good source of it at Mountain Rose Herbs, or directly from several manufacturers in New Zealand. Will you please email me your source for Ravensara? Thank you again!

Kellene,
Please email me with the info on where I can purchase this oil and bathsalts. I've been to several of your classes and you are awesome!! Thank you for your willingness to share.

Donna

Good information! My daughter has a grapefruit size uterine fibroid and really does not want to have surgery. Which, if any, EOs would be likely to help and where to get them? Thank you so much for all the wonderful information. I would love to know of an EO that would be useful in treating the arthritis in my left ankle too. Blessings to you.

The uterine fibroid also usually comes with insulin resistance.
For the arthritis, the Ravensara would really help, but I'd suggest you use Birch with it as well so that you're not only eliminating the pain, but the Birch will actually assist in eliminating the arthritis. Helichrysum has helped a lot of folks with the pain as well if you've got nerve damage.

Hi Kellene, Thanks for your info. I signed up under you with a local essential oil company, but I think you have also mentioned a different local company. Will you please email me with the information for the company that carries Ravensara? I have ventured forth with oils, but still feel unsure which to store and which is best for certain complaints. Thanks for introducing me to alternative therapies.

Susan,
I only get my oils from one place. They are the only one I trust for complete safety, third party certification, purity, and potency. There's a lot more to it than those simple words, but I just wanted you to know that there isn't another one in my book. It took me a while to get here with a far too many detours, but I'm sufficiently confident where I've "landed." :-)

Where can I buy quality oils? I've look at lots of places and I just don't know how to determine which are of good quality. I've also been looking for birch oil and can't find any. I am new at herbs and oils and could use some direction.

Maree, in that case you're going to LOVE the article I wrote on Birch oil. (Just put "birch) in the search bar and you'll find it.)

Kellene-would appreciate your source info for oils and salts. thanks so much!

Please give me your source. I would appreciate it. thanks for the info.

Will it help my daughter's plantar wart? Thanks again for your contribution.

Ron, lemongrass is what you want for a plantar's wart. You want to only apply it directly to the wart and not on the surrounding skin. I would apply it a.m. and p.m. and then cover with a bandage. It will indeed go away with this approach.

Kellene,
I went through several oil companies before coming to the one you recommended. I've already attended some of their teleconferences, which had great information (and he also talked about general preparedness as well), but I also have a lot of notes from webinars from other companies as well. You mentioned a lot of errors in other companies information. Do you have any advice for what I should do about the things I've already learned?

Sarah, I'm not quite sure what your question is. If I have to guess a bit, I think you're asking more so how to know what's right and what's wrong information. My experience has been that in many cases the companies who manufacture the products tend to "educate" in a manner which backs up their own product. As such, I started reading outside medical research to support or question the positions put out there by the various companies. My thought was to do this until I found that I was able to consistently confirm the education dispensed by a particular source. I've finally done that.
Folks tend to think I'm a bit nuts when I've told them that I've been diligently studying essential oils for over 10 years. But when you are having to comprehend the use, origin, extraction process, impacts, sources, etc. of a particular essential oil, it literally takes that long of concerted effort to find the info you need/want. No wonder scientific research takes so long.

Hi, This article seems like a Godsend to me, and I would love to know where you order your oil. I too suffered for many years with endometriosis and surgeries, hormone shots, etc that did not work. Luckily, I had my 2 children and finally had the hysterectomy. I now suffer from Lupus and spend the majority of my life in my bedroom. I have chronic muscle & joint pain and also suffer from chronic sinus infections which do not respond well to antibiotics because of my screwed up immune system, and I end up in the hospital half the time. If this oil does even half of what you've said, it could make a HUGE difference in my life. Thank you for writing about it. PLEASE email me your source.
Thanks!

The Lupus is actually a symptom of a compromised auto-immune deficiency. Believe it or not, it can be reversed and quite well too. I've sent you an e-mail, but let me know if you'd like more suggestions on the Lupus aspect. I'm sure that like me, this isn't how you envisioned your life being at this time. Take care!!!

Dear Kellene,

I would like to refer you to a Dr. Bigelsen, advocate for homeopathy and biological medicine,of Biological Health Institute has helped my daughter
recover from swollen feet and knees that no doctor could diagnosis. They had her on all kinds of pain medications and prescriptions that didn't do anything to cure her. She is only 19 years old, tired of going from one medical doctor to another doctor, I wanted to try an alternative doctor, Dr. Bigelsen was the one I chose and he has made an incredible difference in her life and she is about 80% on the road to recovery. Recently we went to another doctor, rhuemuatory, it was here that she was told that she has arthritis. All the medical doctors want to do is prescribe medications and manage your pain, they do not want to cure you. Well, I want a cure and I know there is a cure. Inflammation is one the most detrimental attacks on your body and happens any time your have surgery. So, now I am very cautious about having any doctor do any type of surgery. I do believe there is a place for medical doctors when it is an emergency and you need to be stitched up to stop bleeding and save your life. But if you have a medical condition, be sure to research all your avenues before believing and trusting in medical doctors.
Dr. Bigelsen has just published a book, called "Doctors are more Dangerous than Germs", you can go to his web site and read all about his background and controversies that he has been involved with, it will open your eyes to the truth.
I am so thankful for Dr. Bigelsen and his ability to see holistic approaches in curing our diseases.

God send. thank you. can i pls get your source for oils

Kellene, I too would appreciate the source for your oils. My daughter and I both have autoimmune-mediated diseases. When the immune system decides to go haywire and attack healthy tissue, it certainly is NO fun. My daughter's disease is an rare disease of the brain and spine - Primary Angiitis of the Central Nervous System. She is in another flare-up after having a nasty virus a couple months ago and will begin chemotherapy again, Cytoxan to be exact. I'm not sure if they are going to put her back on Thalidomide or not. Are there any essential oils that could help combat the side-effects of this? We don't want anything that bolsters the immune system because we need her to be immunosuppressed. We don't have to bother with the hormonal problems that Cytoxan causes because she already has had complete ovarian failure and had to have a hysterectomy at age 22.
Thanks, Kellene. We surely appreciate everything you do to help us learn a lifestyle of preparedness while you carry your own personal burdens. I hope you know we don't overlook the hard work you do for us.

God bless,
Rise'

Rise' actually having the hysterectomy doesn't suppress the hormones, it just causes them to go haywire in other areas. Your scenario is actually very delicate and requires me getting a lot more info. I've sent you an e-mail. The good news though is yes, there are some natural remedies that will indeed help her--not cure, of course, but help and let the body cure what it can with the right tools. Take care--and thank you for your kind words.

Absolutely agree on the hormones. Her brain/pituitary dysfunction caused the hormonal problems, along with being on Cytoxan for several years. I did receive the email - thank you!
Rise'

Please send me info about where you get your oils and salts...Thank you

I've been dabbling in essential oils as well for the last couple of years. Realizing now how little I know with my dabbling:) Wanting to get several high quality oils in my first aid stash. Would love to know your source for Ravensara. Do you recommend other oils from this same company?? Thank you for all of your information and knowledge!! You are AMAZING!

Yes, the source I use for my essential oils is the only source I use. If they don't sell it, I don't need it.

please email me your goto company for essential oils I could not find where you mentioned their name or website

thanks

Do you know whether Aura Cacia has anything synthetic in their oil, and is it really any good? I also have some old ylang-ylang oil from Aveda. Can it be used for anything besides smelling good? How long do oils keep before not being usable? Thanks

Lisa, I've literally researched over 80 different oil manufacturers worldwide. I've only come across one that met all of my criteria. Neither of the companies you've mentioned are one of them and one of the companies you mention has some of the most diluted constituents, although not much in terms of adulterants. So I would still diffuse it as ylang-ylang is good for aiding respiratory and emotional challenges. Too bad it's not pure as it would stop an asthma attack in its tracks. Oils that are not diluted or messed around with have an infinite shelf-life. The others, who knows...

Kellene, Thank you for sharing such a personal matter. I am truely your biggest fan!! I listen to your show on the preparedradio.com faithfully twice a week and love it!! I tell all my friends about your website etc. I have really come to trust your information and appreciate all you do for all of us. THANK YOU! I am really interested in getting into the essential oils. I will continue to listen to your shows and educate myself more. Could you please send me your Sprout salad recipe and also the information on the bosch crank as well. Thank you again so much and I pray that you will feel better. PS. Costco has a bucket of seeds for sprouting. Have you ever tryed these and do you know if they sprout well? Thanks in advance.

Cheryl, I sent you a detailed e-mail answering your questions since they weren't likely to be found on this particular topic thread of comments.

So thankful that you're doing well, keep up the fight for wellness!

I too would be interested in how to buy effective essential oils. I have an auto immune disease that affects my blood. My biggest problem is feeling exhausted 100% of the time. With six kids that I home school, I really need more energy and just to feel good for once. The medical community can't do anything to help me. And I have tried excepting that this is just the way it is going to be. But I want more than that. Thanks.

Hi would you please email me the info for the company that you purchase your essential oils from....Thanks

Hi Kellene,
I am intrigued by the subject of this article. Would you please send me your source for the essential oils mentioned here. Thank you for determination to share.

Thank you, Kellene, for a great article on Ravensara. I'm new to most of the essential oils, and I hadn't even heard of this one. Please let me know where I can purchase the high-quality oil you write about. Thanks again, and keep writing!

I am new to essential oils and i too would like to know your source...i want nothing more than to be as medically self-sufficient as possible...Thanks you for all the information...i have learned so much...

Kellene, I found another company who sell oils and I have never heard of them but they claim to sell wholesale so more people can afford. They say they are organic or wild crafted and thereputic quality. Ananda is the name . Have you heard of them and is if so can you comment on them? I use YL and Doterra right now.

Karen,
Dealers who claim they sell wholesale are a dime a dozen. Also, I specifically do not care for the two lines that you're presently using. They are far too dangerous with the compromising blends and the adulterations. In fact, I consider the first to be one of the most egregious abusers of the "2%" rule.

Wow that is interesting. Is (DY) somehow related to YL and a breakoff?
I did sign up under his compamny so will see how the oils compare soon and make my statement then.
Been using oils for ner 30 years now and can't say I have ever had and magnificient results although they smell good. lol
Used mostly YL maybe that is why. Kind of upsetting to know that you put your trust in them and then they are not what they say.

Please understand that I don't believe that the heads of these companies are sitting around wondering how they can deceive people. Like I said in the article, the particular website I was talking about clearly wanted to provide quality service and products. I don't doubt their sincerity one iota. Unfortunately though, much like Doctors depend on the pharmaceutical reps to understand the medications they prescribe, retailers rely on the wholesalers of the oils for the information who share and certification of the essential oils. If you only knew how few people there are in the world who actually know how to read a gas chromatograph! As such, there are very few companies who do even the most basic of testing on their products. Butterfly Express, for example, does not offer any certification documentation on any of their products.

Thanks for yet another thought provoking article! Could you also email me the source of your essential oils? Ravensara sounds like just what I need! Thanks!

I loved reading about the essential oils. I, too, would like to know where to purchase the high-quality oils. Thank you.

Hi Kellene,

I would also like to know where to purchase this oil and the other oils you recommend for the liver cleanse, lemon and peppermint. My husband has muscle pain in his back and neck left over from an accident and I'm thinking he should try the Ravensara essential oil.

Kellene! Thanks so much for all your hard work and willingness to share. I need to get informed on essential oils, how and where do I start, and what is the company you recommend?

Thanks

Kellene, I saw the link to this article on your twitter account and am glad I clicked it to come here. This is a very good article, and very glad to have read it, not ever having heard of this essential oil. I have used extra virgin olive oil for moisturizing my face now for many years and have discovered it has worked really well on my (middle age) adult acne. However, I have not had any luck with EVOO or grape seed oil for my psoriasis. Do you think Ravensara would be something to try on a psoriasis skin disorder? I was also interested in hearing it is good for RA. I have a friend who was just diagnosed with RA, and I will share this with her! Thanks again for the great info!

I'm very interested in getting your source for the essential oils. I have fibromyalgia, allergy and sinus problems and ulcerative colitis (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). Would the ravensara and or helichrysum be helpful for my autoimmune illnesses? I also had severe endometriosis and eventually had a hysterectomy because of the extreme pain, my heart goes out to you! Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with us!!

Would you please send me the information on where I can purchase the qulity Ravensara?

done.

I would also like to know what your source for the Ravensara is as well. Thanks.

Curious about your source for essential oils and also about your opinion of doTerra oils. I have been studying and using essential oils for a long time as well and have used many brands of EOs. I have used the DT oils and found them to be very effective and high quality oils and combined with their certification of purity and proper chemical constituent ratios in addition to the sources from which they are acquired I am surprised at your hesitancy in using them. Please do tell me why! I love to know the truth about things.
I very much enjoyed your article BTW. I think essential oils are fabulous!
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I feel that I have been quiet on the DoTerra brand for too long. I'm afraid that my hands been forced to write a no-nonsense article on the founded concerns I have of the DT brand. Unfortunately, it won't garner me any friends in that arena, which is unfortunate, because I don't believe for a moment that the DT distributors are intentionally misleading and/or harming others. Unfortunately they are at present though. So I'll be working on such an article this week as I'm frequently being asked specifically why I refuse to use their brand. Suffice it to say for now, not only would I not subject anyone to their brand--particularly their blends--but I am seriously concerned about the health of the persons who use some of their blends, particularly one they call "Deep Blue"--that's a lawsuit from liver failure waiting to happen. *sigh* I loathe it when good people are betrayed by ignorance.

I was researching essential oils when I came across your blog. I want to use the best and be trained in using them. Could you please tell me who you purchase from and some other resources I could use to gain knowledge. it appears your research far exceeds mine. I love all that I've read so far on your site, it seems you are not lead by hearsay.

would love to know where to purchase this particular Ravensara,
Thank you

Could you please send me your oil resource. My grandaughter has an immune disorder and spends a great deal of time ill. She has missed a lot of school. I would like to try some of the oils for her. Thank you.

I would also be very interested in the EO company that you have such confidence in. Would you please send me the info.
Thanks
