Preparedness

I realize I’m not apt to win any popularity contests when I suggest that a person really needs to store enough water to provide each member of the family with one gallon per day for an entire year. Yes, I realize that’s a lot when it’s just one person let alone 5, 10, 20 plus unexpected. But keep in mind that that’s what preparedness is about. I don’t really believe there is a “finish line” so to speak, when it comes to living a more self-reliant life. No one family, person, etc. can do it all...

Whew! Lot’s of catching up to do. I don’t think I’ve ever had a July this full in my adult life, but full and fulfilling it was. I hope you all are having a great summer too! For starters, I wanted to bring to your attention the last couple of episodes of Preparedness Pro Radio Show. Last week I had Jim Kinnard on, the president and founder of Food For Everyone.org.  His organization teaches the Mittleider Gardening method which I came across after doing tons of research on gardening. I wish...

This week: More freeze-dried reviews, a new Cheese Waxing Kit, this months' giveaway item announced, and a valuable resource for FREE medical preparedness books. I don’t know about you but I felt like this weekend flew by. I really enjoyed doing the radio show this past Saturday which was on “Do It Yourself Dental Care.” You can download it so you don't have to miss out on all the information shared. This coming Saturday’s show will be on Hoarding—what it really is, it’s legal definition,...

Hey everyone! I  hope you all had a DRY weekend. My heart is just aching for the folks in Missouri and KS who have suffered some serious set backs. I hope we can remember to include them in our prayers AND we can learn from this scenario in order to better the protection and safety of our own families as well. Last Saturday’s Preparedness Pro Radio Show was all about the impact of Freedom in our everyday lives. I shared countless examples of stories which have circulated in the news which...

Preparedness Pro Update Hey everyone! Apparently I’ve been falling asleep at the wheel when it comes to keeping our readers here updated on what’s happening in the world of Preparedness Pro. So each Saturday I’m going to make myself sit down and jot the updates. Here they are... For starters, due to the increasing demand for my time writing and teaching, I’ve made the hard decision to scale back on some things that were also important to me, but simply couldn’t be justified any longer. One of...

In one of my elementary school classes we were actually taught how to cook a frog. (Not literally, but our teacher gave us specific instructions.)  For those of you who don’t know, cooking a frog requires patience and time. You simply can’t just plop a frog in boiling hot water, it will just jump out (albeit quite injured). Instead you need to plop the frog into a pot of cool water, and then slowly let the water heat up from there. Doing so will cause the frog to grow accustomed to the...

Today I posted a question for our Facebook readers. “What is one aspect of preparedness that you feel comfortable with right now?”  Unfortunately, for the most part the answers were riddled with regrets and superimposed labels of failure. I was a bit saddened to read some of the responses because the “cure” is so incredibly easy and yet there were many who were beating  themselves up for not having "arrived" at the perfect state of preparedness. First of all, I suspect that for those people...

Hey Folks, Just a heads up. This week the "General Conference" sales go into high gear. I'm always checking out my local Macey's, Bosch Kitchen Centers, and of course, Augason Farms for sales.  If any of you are still wanting to get a Nutrimill, a hand grinder, or a Kuhn Rikon or BRK pressure cooker I suggest that you contact a Utah Bosch Kitchen Center and take advantage of the sales going on here. I know that the Bosch stores near me are offering at least 10% off the Kuhn Rikon/BRK stuff. As...
