is there anyway it would be possible to record the class and post the video? I’m in PA however I would love to see them. Here preparedness is running to the store for milk and bread before a snow storm. When I say before I mean after it starts snowing..

Please tell me they are coming to Western mass or that I can purchase from Wal-Mart on-line. We have NO local sources for this stuff.

I just attended the pressure cooker class this evening and I have to say how DELICIOUS the food was-the risotto alone justifies, no necessitates the purchase of a pressure cooker-and how DELIGHTFUL Kellene herself was! I truly felt her passion for learning and knowledge and her sincere desire to share it with all who will listen. I am a better person for having been there (and I now know that a fantastic, inexpensive and FAST risotto is within my reach)! My life was truly improved. Run, do not walk, to one of her classes ASAP. Thanks again, Kellene!

I know you’re super busy, but if you have a moment, I was wondering if you had an opinion–I was researching Kuhn Ricon and they have a new “Top Model” version that is supposed to be an even better lid than the one you showed us tonight. Apparently, you can turn the knob and let go and it will continue to release all of the steam/pressure for you instead of holding the button thingy down the whole time. For the 7 quart variety, it would be about $40 more ($229 vs. $189). Do you think it is worth it? Thanks!

    Hi Kellene,
Thank you so much for your input on my preparedness post. I really appreciated it. I am doing a post for next week and linking to you. I am also subscribing to your blog and putting your blog under the Food Storage/Preparedness section on my left sidebar. I’m glad I ‘met’ you. :)

Kellene, I have an All American canner I purchased off ebay a few years back. I changed the pressure gauge and also the petcock for a weight and it works great. Have canned tons of meats, vegs and sauces etc. But I have never used it as a cooker. Can I use it as just a cooker? I would let it cool down naturally as I understand it could be harmful for the older models (it is a 7 quart one by the by). I hate to have to purchase another appliance if I could use this one. Thanks
would love to be able to attend your class. Am a jealous gal.

I love your Classes! Have you thought about having a class for each one of the 10 aspects of preparedness? I would be very interested in that.

  14. 14

Thank you for your articles. If you are ever in coming to the Puget Sound let me know and we could set up classes here for you. I will try & attend yours when I visit my kids in Orem.

Do you ever swap blog links? I’m at -

Thanks so much for your pressure cooking class at home storage basics in AF. I’m now the proud owner of an 8QT. Kuhn Rikon. It has been so fun to make friends with…I’ve done an elk roast to perfection in it…some BBQ frozen pork ribs, and your yummy ratatoullie. I signed up for the e-mail of “other” tips and recipies you had, but haven’t seen it come through yet, so I wanted to resend my e-mail address. It is a long address and sometimes gets misread. So if you get around to sending the recipies out again for another pressure cooking class that you are doing…could you include me in that mailing? thanks!

PS. I’d love the recipies so that I can prove to my husband that my Kuhn Rikon isn’t just an expensive “pot” as he calls it. LOL.

Samantha, I’m going to make sure you’re husband “eats his words” about the expensive pot comment. hee hee. Can’t believe he said that after the elk done to perfection though. Oh well. We’ll make him (and you) so happy you have it! Glad to relish in your joy of receiving it! :-) (We’ll also make sure you get updates and such!)

    Huh?
I check my emails assiduously. As of 1/9 3pm, there were no messages from you regarding upcoming classes. Then I checked today,Saturday the 9th at 7pm and behold you are advertising classes for yesterday and today!
Well, I couldn’t come anyway, but something is awry.

Would like to try canning meat. We live at 8,000ft –is there anything i.e amount of time, that I need to do differently????

    Great info –thanks so much

Yup, you will have to use the 15 pounds of pressure and you will have to cook it for longer, just like I do. Your manufacturer’s instructions will address high altitude more thoroughly.

  19. 21

I am so excited about the possiblity of some webinars…I would even pay for them as I know it is costly…..I am trying to learn how to pressure can meats (after your blog on subject) Just what I need….I have never used a pressure cooker much less a canner…..don’t even know the difference……My only memory of a pressure cooker is my Grandmothers blowing up and burning her badly…Have been searching up here in the mountains for someone that can use one….no luck so far. Will keep trying to find some help and trying to figure out what type to buy….Would appreciate your info there….Just family of one now….. but love stocking up…at this writing….Sour Dough Bread in oven, mushrooms and bell peppers dehydrating. I try to do some prep work everyday……so please do webcasts! Thank You for making me think ahead…..

Do you have any information on solar generators? Now that you have me convinced on getting a solar oven, I want to consider getting a solar generator as well.

      24

that’s still a new world to me, Michelle.

  21. 25

Is there a link for a specific description of how the webinar classes work? How long do they last? Are they live? Are they interactive? Can you ask questions, etc.? Will you be able to watch the webinar more than once? Can it be recorded to watch again? Thanks, I am interested in the one you will present tomorrow.

  22. 26

Glad to see there will be webinars.

Kellene, Have you thought of a DVD offering on your webinars? I’m not sure if recording a DVD is possible with your setup.
I can’t wait for the book you are working on. (Anticipation, not criticism) It’ll be awesome, do you have a date for release?
If you need a PC person for saving money on programs and some PC security I’d be willing to help out. That’s Personal computers not Politically Correct. :)

    • Kellene #
      28

that will be coming out this year depending on what level of access folks want.

  24. 29

Hi Kellene. I was wondering if you have any plans to make a DVD of your webinars. I would love to attend them, but with two toddlers, the chance of being able to sit 2-3 hours in front of my computer screen is next to nill. Hubby could potentially take them away for some of the seminars, but definitely not for as many as I would like to attend (aka- all!) Anyway, if you’re going to make a DVD, I will just wait for those to come out. But if not, then I need to sign up for as many webinars as I can possible manage.
Thanks for all your great information!
    Debbie

Kellene: I am on dial up ..I would love to do your coupon webinar is there a way to do it where I can listen to it by phone and get the matrials by e-mail? Thanks. Thanks for all your info ..keep up the great work.

    • Kellene #
      31

Of course Terrie. You can listen to it by phone. If you have a cell phone, then you could see the presentation on your computer and listen on the phone. OR you can listen through your speakers through your computer as you dial in. But either way you do it, it’s possible. I just think you’ll enjoy the presentation better if you can watch as well–but it’s not vital that you do. Take care.

I live in a very remote area. There is only two large (not national) chain grocery store within 50 miles of me: Price Chopper and Hy-Vee. I guess my question is, would the coupon thing really benefit me that much.

    Thanks

Kellene: I attended your coupon bootcamp by webinar today and must thank you for all the helpful information. I thourghly enjoyed it. I was in awe! I thought I knew a bit about couponing and have always done it in the past but nothing like you taught… I have been doing it all wrong..there is so much more..so much potential..now I see how you can take full advantage to get free or nearly free irems..I always wondered how people did that!Thank you again so much . I look forward to many other webinars in my futue. Take care and bless you and your friend who is ill, I will keep you both in my prayers. Terrie

    Kellene;
I don’t know if this is where I should be writing to you …but wanted you to know that in the last 2 weeks from taking your Coupon Training webinar my husband figured it up that I have saved 64% on my shopping! That includes Kroger,Walgreens,CVS, AND Hobby Lobby…I’m so Ecxited about it. (He is too) Each week has been a little bit better. Thanks again. It is possible.I’ll be signing up for another webinar soon.

Terrie! That’s GREAT news! Thanks for sharing. When the hubby can see numbers like that it sure does a great job eliminating skepticism, eh? I’m tickled pink for you! Way to go!!!
Wait until you hear my good news that I’ll be sharing this week. You’ll be even more excited about the webinars!

  29. 37

We will be introducing Webinars very, very soon.

  30. 38

Hmm…I do know that when I read your comment, I did indeed covet the new model. But I’m not sure $40 is worth “not having to press the button.” I’m sure there are other features though. I’ll have to look into it.

  31. Gayle #
    39

Thank you! I’ll look forward to any insight you glean!

  32. 40

Useful? That’s putting it mildy! They are awesome!

  33. 41

If it’s only 1 7 quart then yes, I would use it as a cooker. In fact the one I have for canning is actually labeled as a “cooker”. I just frown upon using the big canners as a cooker, cause that’s an awful lot of energy and fuel for a meal.

I was going to ask the same thing. I was just made preparedness coordinator and I need to help my ward get prepared. So…any help I can get would be wonderful. I love couponing, but can’t get coupons. The Sunday paper is only sold on Sunday here!! I can’t afford some of the coupon sites, we only have one or two stores here, so food isn’t cheap.

  35. 43

You only need the internet and the Sunday Paper. (you may want to add All You magazine to that too.) You should NEVER pay for a coupon site. There are too many of them that are excellent and free.
